Team Alton Next Food Network Star Fan T-Shirt is here!

OK this is far from what we do here at The Backpackers Journey. We are all about travel and getting people information about International Backpacking. Well it seams the last few days has turned a bit of fun we had into a responsibility to the fans of The Food Network and our man Alton Brown.  We posted the design above of our Team Alton Brown t-shirt to our twitter page to support our team.  To our surprise Mr. Brown re-tweeted it to his 300k fans and our twitter account blew up with requests for this t-shirt. With offers all over the place to buy these shirts off of us we were kinda in shock that showing our little bit of fandom would tun into this and had to figure out what to do.

Well first off we are so greatful for all the amazing comments from everyone and we would would have loved to get these shirts to all but 1) we are not in the business of creating and selling t-shirts 2) the Food Network and Alton Brown are both copyrighted and it is not legal to sell any merchandise with their name or likeness on them and we would never want to do that.

So we decided to redesign the shirt a bit and put up all the files and instructions to make it possible for anyone for about $15, a printer and an Iron to make their own.  (If you have been with us from the beginning, the first shirt was black but making it black made it real difficult for the average person to create).  So here we go, enjoy.

First off you will need to purchase a package of iron on transfer printer paper.  You can get these at any Staples or office supply store or online here.  You will need to get the ones for light fabric.  You will only need one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet per shirt.

Next you will need to get a nice clean and probably new T-shirt to put this on to.  We are comfortable you can find one of those!

Next you will need to download this file.  This is the image file that we will print onto the t-shirt.

When you get out your paper it will look similar to below, there will be a side to print on and a side that you will iron.

You will want to read the instructions on the sheets that you get and understand what side you will print too and check your printer and know what side of the paper it prints to before you start printing.  Once you do get the paper into the printer.  Now open up the JPEG image that you downloaded above.  You will notice it is backwards.  This was done for you so that you would not have to do it yourself.  Do not worry, it is correct. :) You are going to print full page in “Landscape” as we have below.

Ok now that you have the image printed onto your sheet you will want to trim off the excess space around the image.  Be sure to trim around the image with rounded cuts and close to the image.  Leave about 1/2 inch around the image about how we have done here:

Now it is time to heat up your iron and put down your shirt.  Iron your shirt flat before laying the paper face down on the shirt.  Place the point of the star center of the shirt and about 3 fingers from the bottom of the collar.  Line it up and then put a towel over it all.  Iron and adhere it per the instructions on the package of your paper and peal of the cover paper per those instructions.

And there you go, you have your own Team Alton Fan T-shirt.   Please do us a favor and post pics here or send us a tweet with one, we are excited to see you all in the shirts and we are pretty sure Alton Brown would love to as well. Thank you again for your support and while you are here take a look around the site and see what we really do! The world is out there for you to see so go see it!

Remember The Food Network, The Next Food Network Star Logo, Alton Brown and Signature are all trademarked and all rights are owned by each.  Do not sell these shirts, this information and file is for your own personal and private use.

Again thank you for your excitement in our little project.

See you out on the road!
